§ 79. Mr. N. Macphersonasked the Minister of Food what price is being obtained for a pound of butter by farmers in this country; and what is the present average landed cost of imported butter per pound.
§ Mr. StracheyMy Department does not purchase butter from farmers in this country but from creameries. The cost is about 5s. per lb., taking into account the cost to the Ministry of the milk used in making it and the price received for the by-products. The present average landed cost of imported butter is 2S. 2d. per lb.
