HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c51W
107. Mr. J. Lewis

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that rubber machinery is still included in the Statutory Rules and Orders, 1945, No. 631, although rubber reclaiming machinery is excluded from that order, and in view of the fact that a high proportion of the same plant is common to both industries, will he take steps to annul the order.

Mr. J. Jones

No. The demand for rubber working machinery still greatly exceeds supply, so that it is essential to continue the control of production to ensure the best use of manufacturing capacity. There are similar difficulties in the supply of rubber reclaiming machinery, and the question of including it in this order is at present being considered.
