HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c55W
115. Mr. Piratin

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Polish minors are being cared for in the United Kingdom; how many of these have one or both parents in Poland; and what steps are being taken in the case of the latter category to repatriate the children.

Mr. Younger

My right hon. Friend is not able to give the number of persons under 21 years of age, but the number of persons under 17 years of age who have come to this country as dependants of members of the Polish Forces is about 3,000. Of these 34 are believed to have one or both parents living in Poland. The question of arrangements for enabling these children to join their parents in Poland is now under consideration.
