§ 39. Mr. N. Macphersonasked the Secretary of State for War whether, in considering the eligibility of German prisoners of war, for whom application is made to remain as civilian agricultural workers in this country, their civil state is taken into account.
§ Mr. ShinwellIf by "civil state" the hon. Member means the former civilian occupation or the domestic state of these prisoners of war, the reply is "No." The factors that are taken into account are the prisoner of war's character, the quality of his work while a prisoner of war and his physical suitability for agricultural work.
