HC Deb 09 February 1948 vol 447 c18W
90. Mr. H. D. Hughes

asked the Minister of Food to what extent the degree of hardness of the water supply and the percentage of heavy industry, is taken into account in allocating supplies of soap, to particular areas.

Dr. Summerskill

Supplies of soap are arranged to meet the full rationed requirements for domestic and industrial purposes. It has not been found practicable to vary the ration according to the hardness or softness of the water supply.
