HC Deb 09 February 1948 vol 447 c8W
73. Mr. J. Silverman

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what qualifications and knowledge of labour conditions and what actual experience of trade union activity is required of a person appointed to the post of Labour Attaché to one of His Majesty's Missions abroad; and whether he has considered the appointment of active trades unionists who have held office in British trades unions to some of these positions.

Mr. McNeil

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given him by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary on 11 August, 1947; my right hon. Friend is well satisfied with the work of these Labour Attachés, and is not considering appointing others in their place.
