HC Deb 09 February 1948 vol 447 c12W
Mr. York

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will give the total estimated production in tons of eggs in shell in Great Britain during 1946 and 1947.

Mr. T. Williams

Total egg production in Great Britain is estimated at 187,000 tons in the farm year 1945–46 and 190,000 tons in 1946–47. These figures include hatching eggs and domestic and other noncommercial egg production, and are given in terms of weight in shell. Deliveries of hen eggs to packing stations, which are known more exactly, were 76,000 tons and 73,000 tons, respectively.
