§ Colonel Clarkeasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that many persons abroad sending gifts to this country appear to be ignorant of the fact that the recipients will have to pay Purchase Tax thereon and may be considerably embarrassed thereby, he will take steps to make the contents of Customs and Excise Notice No. 143 of June, 1946, better known overseas.
