HC Deb 04 February 1948 vol 446 c288W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty, having regard to the fact that electrical generating machinery on board the battleships "Queen Elizabeth," "Valiant," "Nelson," "Rodney" and battle cruiser "Renown," are each capable of supplying the electrical needs of a large city, and having regard to the impossibility of providing immediately the generative machinery required by the electrical industry of this country, he has offered this machinery to the Electricity Commissioners.

Mr. W. Edwards

I am advised by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Fuel and Power that this equipment is unsuitable for supplying electricity to the grid.
