HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 c220W
71. Mr. T. Macpherson

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will now announce the rate of hill cattle subsidy for England and Wales for 1948.

Mr. T. Williams

Yes, I have decided that the rates of subsidy shall be the same for 1948 as for 1947, namely, £3 15s. 0d. per head for breeding cows and heifers' suckling calves and £2 15s. 0d. per head for other eligible cattle. The necessary Order under Section 14 (3) of the Hill Farming Act, 1946, will be laid before Parliament shortly.
