HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 c234W
100. Mr. Lang

asked the Minister of Food why the application of Mr. G. Walker, Stockport Road, Hyde, to be upgraded for the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables was refused.

Mr. Strachey

This application was refused because, after careful examination of the figures which Mr. Walker himself supplied, the local distribution committee were unable to regard the extent of his current trade in fresh fruit and vegetables as sufficient to qualify him for a higher grade according to the scale laid down by the committee and approved by my Department. I have since had the figures re-examined and I can find no justification for interfering with the committee's findings.
