HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 c212W
36. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will now make arrangements to clarify the position with regard to the parking of cars in non-restricted streets in the Metropolitan area; and whether signs can be erected to indicate clearly to motorists whether they may park their cars on either side of such streets.

Mr. Barnes

The legal position is, I think, quite clear. In non-restricted streets no person in charge of a motor vehicle or trailer shall cause or permit the motor vehicle or trailer to stand on a road so as to cause any unnecessary obstruction thereof. Authorised parking places on the public highway are indicated by the authorised parking place sign.
