HC Deb 02 December 1948 vol 458 c213W
Mr. Sharp

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what are the prospects of pneumatic stowage or any other method of stowage being used in the removal of pit tips and the prevention of their formation.

Mr. Gaitskell

I am informed by the National Coal Board that owing to the additional cost normally involved, the adoption of pneumatic or other mechanical methods of stowing is at present only justified in very special circumstances.
