§ 10. Mr. Marplesasked the Financial Secretary, to the Treasury how many persons are employed by the Central Office of Information; and what proportion are devoted to work abroad.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallOn 1st April, 1948, the Central Office of Information employed 1,636 non-industrial staff, of whom 41 were part-time, and 83 industrial staff, all of whom were full-time. It is not possible to attribute overseas work to any particular proportion of the staff, many of whom are engaged on work for both home and overseas; but it is estimated that work for overseas occupies about 44 per cent of the time of the staff.
