HC Deb 13 April 1948 vol 449 cc68-9W
Mr. Gandar Dower

asked the Minister of Works whether he is aware that possession of the Lorne Hotel, Bank Row, Wick, at present occupied by the Ministry of Labour, has been requested for several months and that the proprietor's provisional licence for the hotel will expire in May; whether he is aware that alternative accommodation on the opposite side of Bank Row and elsewhere has been pointed out to his Department; what efforts have been made to find accommodation elsewhere; and at what date he will evacuate the Lorne Hotel.

Mr. Key

I am aware that the proprietor of the Lorne Hotel is pressing for the release of the premises. Several premises have been considered but no acceptable alternative has yet been found and I am unable to say when the hotel will be released.
