Major Lloydasked the Minister of Health what proportion of the total Health Service contribution is meant to cover the provision and running of health centres; and whether he will reduce the contribution by that proportion until health centres are established.
§ Mr. BevanAlthough there is a relatively small contribution from the National Insurance Fund towards the total cost of the health services, those services are independent of the insurance scheme. The contribution is in no way based on the cost of the health services and no question of reducing that contribution can arise on the ground that expenditure on any particular part of those services is delayed.
