§ Mr. BuchananI regret that figures for 3rst March, 1948, are not yet available. The provision for special hardship allowance applies only to partially disabled pensioners, and awards of education allowances to the children of disabled men are not classified according to the degree of disablement of their fathers. Of the 45,940 N.C.O.s and other ranks in receipt of 100 per cent. pension at 31st December, 1947, the approximate numbers receiving the other allowances mentioned in the Question, and the annual cost, were as follows:
