§ 14. Squadron Leader Flemingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the twelve former members of the Control Commission, who are serving sentences in a German prison, appealed to a superior court in the United Kingdom; and what are the rights of appeal given to members of the Commission.
§ Mr. MayhewThe answer to the first part of the Question is "No." As38W regards the second part of the Question, members of the Commission have no right of appeal to any court in Great Britain. The Control Commission court of appeal gives an adequate safeguard to any British civilian sentenced in a lower court and there is further appeal, by way of clemency, to the Commander-in-Chief.
