asked the Minister of Education if he will now give the number of unqualified teachers now teaching in the national schools, in addition to temporary teachers awaiting admission to Emergency Training Colleges; and their distribution in the three categories of the national schools.

The latest information relates to 31st March, 1947. On that date there were, in addition to 5,891 temporary teachers, most of whom were candidates awaiting admission to Emergency Training Colleges, 9,938 other unqualified teachers employed in maintained or assisted primary and secondary schools. Separate figures for different categories of, school are not available.
