§ 113. Mr. Sharpasked the Minister of Fuel and Power what is the allowance of civil aviation fuel for a charter aeroplane; by how much this has been reduced recently in order to limit fuel imports; and what action he is taking to stop charter flights to race meetings and other such unnecessary journeys, so as to remove a grievance of those denied recreational facilities by the withdrawal of the basic petrol ration.
§ Mr. GaitskellPrior to 1st October, the allowances of civil aviation fuel granted to companies operating charter or taxi flights provided for a maximum of 75 flying hours a month for each aircraft. As from that date the allowances have been cut by 10 per cent. I doubt if it would be practicable to place further restrictions on the use of charter aircraft.
