HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 cc53-4W
95. Mr. Osborne

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that hosiery manufacturers have been losing American orders because prices are too high, owing to the fact that yarn used in the home trade has been subsidised by that used in the export trade; what steps he is taking to correct this system; and it he is satisfied with them.

Mr. Belcher

The maximum prices for wool tops were removed on 24th October, and any difficulties of the kind mentioned by the hon. Member should therefore disappear.
