HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 c63W
120. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the large unsatisfied demand for "Thermos" flasks for farm workers in Scotland; that the Cupar Branch of the National Farmers' Union, which is responsible for the distribution of these flasks in East Fife have over 70 applications, but only 10 permits per month to meet them, so that seven months must elapse before persons at the bottom of the list can be supplied; and in view of the pressure now being put upon farm workers what steps he is taking to ensure that an adequate supply of "Thermos" flasks shall be made quickly available.

Mr. Woodburn

I am aware that the demand for "Thermos" vacuum flasks of pint size exceeds the supply, and the need for maintaining the supply of these flasks at as high a level as possible is continuously kept in mind. The sale of vacuum flasks other than the pint size flask made by Messrs. Thermos Limited is not controlled.
