HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 cc51-2W
89. Sir W. Darling

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that for export to Eire seven forms are required printed with several thousand words and weighing over one ounce; and if he will consider, in consultation with Eire, reducing the amount of paper and writing required in ordinary trading circumstances.

Mr. Bottomley

My information is that only three forms are needed generally for shipments to Eire. One is required by United Kingdom Customs, one to comply with preference regulations in Eire and the third for passage over the railways in this country. The latter may be in duplicate or triplicate to facilitate handling. I am, however, arranging with my colleagues for an examination of the forms required for export to overseas destinations generally, in consultation with the principal trade organisations interested in export.
