Williamsasked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware that farmers applying to local authorities for licences to erect essential farm buildings have been informed that no timber can be allocated for the purpose; and what steps are being taken to overcome this difficulty in view of the priority now accorded to agriculturists' requirements and his announcement of 21st August.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsOne case of this kind has been brought to my notice, and it was disposed of satisfactorily. The Ministry of Health's instruction to local authorities on the use of timber was not intended to apply to essential agricultural work, and my right hon. Friend is taking the earliest opportunity to inform local authorities accordingly. Regional officers of the Ministry of Health are being instructed immediately.
