HL Deb 20 October 1947 vol 151 cc1484-5WA
THE EARL OF DUDLEY

> asked his Majesty's Government, whether any efforts have been made in conjunction with the appropriate French authorities to locate the statue of the late Field-Marshal Earl Haig which was removed from its plinth in the Square of Montreuil-sur-Mer by the German occupying Forces; if so, with what result; and whether arrangements are being made to replace this monument.

LORD PAKENHAM

I regret that the monument has not been traced. I understand that the Municipal Council at Montreuil has expressed the wish that it shall be replaced, and the matter is under consideration. I therefore feel that the question is one which can safely be left to our French friends.

House resumed.
