HC Deb 27 November 1947 vol 444 c301W
36. Mr. Challen

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will now issue instructions under which medical and veterinary men will be allowed to use their cars without restriction for all purposes, having regard to their long hours of work and their need for occasional relaxation, provided always they can be quickly recalled in the event of any emergency.

Mr. Gaitskell

No, but I fully appreciate the special difficulties which members of these professions may experience and I am in touch with the British Medical Association and the National Veterinary Medical Association on the matter.
