HC Deb 27 November 1947 vol 444 c310W
94. Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations the number of former members of the Secretary of State for India's Services and former members of non-Secretary of State's Services, respectively, who have applied for employment through official and semi-official organisations, and the number for whom satisfactory employment has been obtained.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

The number of Secretary of State's officers who have applied for assistance in obtaining further employment is 829. Of these a substantial number are still serving in India, Pakistan and Burma and are not yet available to take up new posts. The number who have so far actually found fresh employment is 221 and a large number of others are under consideration for various vacancies. I regret that no figures are available for members of the non-Secretary of State's Services.
