HC Deb 27 November 1947 vol 444 cc303-4W
64. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what promise has been made to British film producers of new legislation to cover the employment of children in that industry; and if he will, before introducing such legislation, set up a public inquiry so that any organisation or persons interested may give evidence on this subject.

Mr. Ede

It has been publicly stated that the employment of children in the film industry has been noted as one of the subjects to be dealt with when legislation to amend the law relating to the employment of children is practicable. I will consider before introducing legislation what inquiry is desirable as regards this particular form of child employment.
