HC Deb 27 November 1947 vol 444 c315W
9. Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why, in the last few months there has been so much delay by the Estate Duty Office in dealing with accounts and communications in connection with estates of deceased persons; and whether he will direct that in the interests of all concerned, especially His Majesty's Treasury, the business of collecting revenue be expedited.

Sir S. Cripps

The delay to which the hon. Member refers arose through the dislocation of work caused by the transfer of the Estate Duty Office from Llandudno to Harrow. The position has now much improved and the work on examination of accounts is progressing satisfactorily.
