§ Mr. Rentonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the present total capacity of Borstal institutions in this country, and how many youths were undergoing sentence in them at the latest date for which figures are available.
§ Mr. EdeBorstal institutions provide at present accommodation for approximately 3,440 boys and 340 girls. The population of the institutions on 18th November, 1947, was 2,859 boys and 217 girls.
