HC Deb 24 November 1947 vol 444 c246W
89. Mr. Hardy

asked the Minister of Food when Mr. B. Johnson, 231, Cross Lane, Salford 5, is likely to receive a licence to manufacture ice cream, in view of the fact he is a disabled ex-Service man and his shop has been established over 40 years; and why a licence was granted for premises next door but one, No. 227 Cross Lane, which has been used as a dental surgery for 40 years until 18 months ago.

Dr. Summerskill

Mr. Johnson cannot be given an allocation of ice-cream materials because the business had no entitlement at the time when he took it over. The present occupier of 227, Cross Lane, is entitled to an allocation of raw materials but he cannot use them in his prewar premises as these were damaged by enemy action.
