HC Deb 20 November 1947 vol 444 c216W
109. Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Supply what was the average tonnage price paid for copper purchased by the Government; and how many tons were purchased during this year to the latest date available.

Mr. J. Freeman

; The quantity of copper purchased by the Ministry of Supply in the first 10 months of 1947 was about 230,000 tons. Owing to the differences in quality and specification an average price would not have any significance, but, in general, prices were closely related to the New York export price of electrolytic copper, which varied during that period between £109 7s. and £132 per ton f.a.s.
