§ Dr. SummerskillThe canned fish referred to was imported by private traders and its sale is not subject to price control. The fresh cod is marketed in accordance with the Ministry of Food Control Scheme. This explains the difference in prices. Further imports of canned fish by private traders have ceased, as the Open General Licence which permitted such trading has now been withdrawn.
