HC Deb 19 November 1947 vol 444 c191W
86. Mr. E. Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for War what arrangements have been made for British officers and other ranks in Germany whose wives are with them to have their children join them at Christmas.

Mr. M. Stewart

Arrangements have been made for two parties of children to go to Germany at Christmas, one leaving on 20th December and returning on 16th January, the other leaving on 22nd December and returning on 20th January. In cases in which the father is expected to have a year's further service in Rhine Army passages will be at public expense for those children who have not previously had a return passage free. In other cases the cost of the passage will be borne by the father.
