HC Deb 19 November 1947 vol 444 c190W
Mr. E. L. Gandar Dower

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation whether he is aware that the County of Sutherland has no air services and that air communications are vital to the county; and whether he will undertake to establish a civil aerodrome at Dornoch.

Mr. Lindgren

My noble Friend is aware that the County of Sutherland has no air service, but he is advised that the potential traffic in the county is not sufficient to justify a service. To establish Dornoch as a civil aerodrome would involve heavy expenditure on acquisition, development and equipment, and in view of the economic situation, such development cannot be undertaken in present circumstances.
