HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 c129W
26. Mr. W. Foster

asked the Minister of Transport if the temporary bridges put over the River Thames during the war could not now be dismantled, and the steel and timber used in their construction put to some useful purpose.

Mr. Callaghan

Of the five temporary bridges erected over the River Thames, one has been dismantled, a contract has been let and work started on the removal of three others, and the fifth is being retained for pedestrians and cyclists.
