HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 c144W
Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware of the shortage of dried milk food for babies in Thornaby-on-Tees; and if he will increase supplies.

Mr. Strachey

National dried milk stocks in Thornaby-on-Tees are adequate to meet demands. There is a general shortage of proprietary infant milk foods at present and in order to maintain supplies liquid milk has been diverted from certain priority users to baby food manufacturers. My Department does not control the distribution of these foods but I understand that supplies of various brands have been sent to the area this week.
