HC Deb 13 November 1947 vol 444 c112W
117. Mr. Beechman

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that there is a shortage of vacuum flasks in West Cornwall for fishermen who need hot drinks in winter weather; and what steps he is taking to remedy the shortage.

Mr. G. Brown

Yes. The shortage affects all parts of England and Wales. As my right hon. Friend indicated in answer to a Question on nth November, the distribution of one well-known make of vacuum flask is controlled by means of priority permits. Of these about 45 per cent. of the fishery allocation goes to the South-West of England, and applicants must wait their turn for flasks as for other scarce goods.
