93. Mr. Turton

asked the Minister of Health whether he has approved the scheme of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners to build 600 agricultural cottages in the North, Midland and Western areas; and what assistance he is giving the Ecclesiastical Commissioners in order that they may make an immediate start with this agricultural housing programme.

Mr. Bevan

This long-term house building of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners has been discussed with my Department. Work will begin on a number of the cottages as soon as the local labour position allows.
