HL Deb 13 November 1947 vol 152 c700WA
THE DUKE OF MONTROSE

asked His Majesty's Government when the Lucas Committee Report on the Agricultural Marketing Acts may be expected, and whether an early opportunity will thereafter be afforded by the Minister of Agriculture to all wool-producing associations to confer with him on the Report.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (THE EARL OF HUNTINGDON)

The Report of the Committee will be published to-morrow and I am glad to have this opportunity of thanking the noble Lord, Lord Lucas, and his colleagues on the Committee for the speed, thoroughness and imagination with which they have accomplished their task. As regards the second part of the question, there is no doubt that the Report of the Committee will be of interest to a great number of people and it would hardly be practicable for the Minister to offer to discuss it personally with them all. So far as the wool-producing associations are concerned, if the noble Duke will be good enough to give me particulars of those which he has in mind, I feel sure that the Minister or the Secretary of State will gladly arrange for an officer of the Department concerned to meet them.

House adjourned at ten minutes before seven o'clock.
