HC Deb 11 November 1947 vol 444 c68W
Mr. J. L. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what payments are made to members of the Polish Resettlement Corps who attend Glasgow University.

Mr. Woodburn

Members of the Polish Resettlement Corps whose attendance at Glasgow University is sponsored by the Committee for the Education of Poles in Great Britain receive payment at the rate of £228 a year. A married man may also receive an allowance of £110 for-his wife, £40 for the first child and £27 for each other child. These amounts are maxima, and the full amount is paid only if the student has been relegated to the Reserve and draws no Army pay or allowances and has no private means. In addition, the University fees are paid direct to the University.
