§ Lord Willoughby de Eresbyasked the Minister of Pensions whether, in view of the fact that a pension of 90 per cent. is awarded for the complete loss of one limb and of 100 per cent. for the loss of a hand and a foot, he will introduce at an early date a special allowance, in addition to a pension of 100 per cent., for pensioners who have lost two or more limbs or who have suffered other forms of extreme disablement.
§ Mr. BuchananProvision is already made in the war pensions instruments for special allowances, in addition to the basic pension, to meet the needs of the types of case to which the noble Lord refers. Up to 40s. a week may be paid where attendance is required on account of the disablement and up to 20s. a week where, owing to the disablement, the pensioner is unemployable. The total pension and supplements payable to an unmarried private soldier who is very severely disabled by war service and is unemployable may therefore be £5 5s. a week.
