HC Deb 11 November 1947 vol 444 c65W
Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Minister of Food what intake of calories per head per day is shown for the latest available month by his Department's latest food survey; whether he has any comparable figures for the corresponding month of 1932; and whether he will state the present calorie value of all rationed foods, giving separate figures for each commodity.

Mr. Strachey

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for Aberdeen and Kincardine, Central (Mr. Spence) on Monday, 3rd November. I have no figures for 1932. The calorie values of rationed foods for a normal adult are:

Meat 117
Bacon 15
Cheese 33
Butter 61
Margarine 124
Lard 36
Sugar 123
Bread 648
Milk 102
Preserves 41
1,300

The above figures are the calories derived from the rations of a normal adult and do not include eggs nor points rationed foods.
