HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 cc22-3W
Mr. Vane

asked the Minister of Health how many houses were requisitioned in Kendal to accommodate workers for the Standard Motor Company's wartime factory; how many are still held; and, of the latter, how many are still occupied by persons formerly but now no longer employed by the Standard Motor Company; also, what plans he has for the early release of these properties to their owners.

Mr. Bevan

Twenty-one houses were requisitioned, of which five are still held and occupied by persons formerly employed by the Standard Motor Company or members of their families. I regret that it is not possible to release these houses until the local authority are able to find alternative accommodation for the present occupants.
