HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 cc10-1W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the complaints which have been made concerning the conditions under which dogs and other animals are being shipped to this country from India; whether he is aware that unduly high prices are charged for their transport and that some animals have died en route; and whether he will take steps to draw the attention of the shipping companies to this matter with a view to remedial action being taken.

Mr. Callaghan

I shall be sorry to learn that this is so and my inquiries do not confirm it. If the hon. Member will send me details I will have them investigated.
