HC Deb 04 November 1947 vol 443 cc182-3W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Labour what number of men and women in Britain are missing from the official records of the Ministry of Labour; and if he will give separate figures for men and women.

Mr. Isaacs

I do not know what the hon. Member means by "missing from the official records," If he means how many persons are classified as" not gainfully occupied," the answer is 1,800,000 men aged 14 to 64 and 10,240,000 women aged 14 to 59.
