HC Deb 04 November 1947 vol 443 cc195-6W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Education what is the total expenditure on school buildings sanctioned up to June, 1948, what proportion of this sum is allotted, respectively, to the provision of school buildings for multilateral, common, or comprehensive schools and buildings or accommodation to replace school buildings blacklisted in 1925, and still in use.

Mr. Tomlinson

The "operational" and "short term" programmes which are the permanent building programmes covering the calendar years 1947 and 1948 contain projects to a total estimated cost of approximately £50 million. It is not practicable to state at this stage how many of these projects will be approved or started by June, 1948, nor to give the information asked for in the second part of the Question without a disproportionate expenditure of time and labour.
