HC Deb 04 November 1947 vol 443 c186W
97. Sir J. Graham Kerr

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether in view of the recommendation in the recently published report of the Scottish Council (Development and Industry) and in view of the possibility of widespread unemployment in the near future, he proposes now to proceed with preliminary work and the preparation of plans for the construction of the Mid-Scotland Ship Canal, so as to obviate delay in commencing the work of actual construction should events make this desirable.

Mr. Woodburn

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport to a Question on 21st October, 1946, of which I am sending him a copy.
