HC Deb 03 November 1947 vol 443 c168W
117. Wing-Commander Hulbert

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what staff increases will be made in the headquarters and divisional offices of his Ministry, consequent upon the abolition of the basic petrol ration; and what is the estimated annual cost.

Mr. Robens

There has been a temporary increase of 251 clerical staff engaged in the regional petroleum offices to deal with extra work consequent upon the abolition of the basic petrol ration. It is hoped that the number of extra staff required will be considerably reduced before the end of the year. The cost of this extra staff is estimated at approximately £5,000 a month.
