§ Mr. P. Wellsasked the Minister of Food whether his attention has been drawn to the considerable quantity of foodstuffs condemned as unfit for human consumption in the borough of Faversham during April; and if he will take steps to ensure that this waste of food does not recur.
§ Mr. StracheyI am advised that during three months ended 31st March, 217 lb. of carcase meat, 19 stones of fish,2½ tons of cereal products, and 1,900 tins of various canned foodstuffs were condemned 291W by the health authority for the borough of Faversham—about 2½ ounces per head of the population. All possible steps are taken to avoid waste of food, but some loss of foodstuffs in the course of distribution is quite unavoidable.
